Dear Dr. Arad
WWWISIS (former wxis.exe) is no longer subject to license registration, provided it is free of charge and free for public usage, even for commercial purposes. The last compiled versions are available for 32 and 64 bits under Linux, and only for 32 bits for Windows. No support, endorsement or guarantee is given on the use of this application.
The application was originally set to work on ISO 8859-1 (Latin 1) only and there is no guarantee it can work on a different ISO encoding. No Unicode is permitted, provided it requires more than one byte per character, therefore invalidanting the architecture proposed by the core of ISIS database standards. Once the application itself is discontinued, no further development is expected to happen from Bireme.
Source codes of standard version are available for download at the CISIS project page ( http://trac.reddes.bvsalud.org/projects/cisis ). There you will find a wxis subdirectory with the specific source code for the application.
For general information on CISIS and WWWISIS projects please access the following pages:

There is a group of developers know as ISIS users' mailing list you can contact by registering at http://lists.iccisis.org/listinfo/isis-users.

Subject: Request for Information on WWWISIS
Dear sirs,
I have recently Andrew Buxton's book on WWWISIS and paper
regarding options for putting CDS/ISIS databases on the web.
I would be most obliged if you could tell me whom I should
contact to purchase a license for the latest version of WXIS.
I need to use the UNICODE version of the program which supports
Hebrew script.
I am using the ABCD library management system on a local
http server. I need to enable users to search our catalog
and electronic journal databases via our institutional
website. I have limited access to the institutional web
server. I can upload files to the server but I cannot
install software on the server or write server-side
scripts.
Would it be possible to copy our databases, wxis.exe
and some ISIS scripts to the appropriate locations on
institutional web server and test them ?(the html forms
and scripts are ready and have been tested on my local
web server).
Yours Sincerely
Dr. Iris Arad
